UAE National Day & Dubai Shopping Festival 2026: Seller's Guide

UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad) falls on Wednesday 2 December 2026, the 55th. The Dubai Shopping Festival follows from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. Together with White Friday, 11.11 and 12.12, they turn November to January into the UAE's longest sale season.

Key takeaways
  • UAE National Day is on Wednesday 2 December 2026 (the 55th). The holiday is usually 2–3 December, with Commemoration Day on 30 November.
  • The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) runs from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. It's the festival's 32nd edition.
  • Online stores join DSF with their own DSF deals. Dubai-licensed businesses need a DET permit before they advertise a discount.
  • Use red, green, white and black freely, but keep the UAE flag and emblem off your products and ads.
  • Meta CPMs in the UAE peaked at USD 23.52 in November 2025, so lock in your audiences before White Friday.

UAE National Day lands on Wednesday 2 December 2026. Two days later, the Dubai Shopping Festival opens and runs well into January.

Add White Friday before them and 12.12 in the middle, and you get the UAE's longest stretch of sale traffic. Shoppers expect deals for about eight weeks straight.

That's a big chance for a small store, and you don't need a mall unit to take part.

When are UAE National Day and DSF 2026?

UAE National Day is on 2 December every year. Its official name is Eid Al Etihad, or "Union Day". It marks the day the emirates united in 1971.

The public holiday usually covers the day after as well. Commemoration Day, a quieter day of remembrance, comes first on 30 November.

The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) runs from 4 December to 17 January. This is its 32nd edition, and it follows straight on from National Day with daily fireworks, raffles and mall-wide sales.

How the UAE winter sale season stacks up

The season isn't one sale. It's five events in a row, each run by different players with different shoppers in mind.

Here's the pattern. Marketplaces own the mega-sales.

National Day and DSF are where your own store and social channels shine. The shopper is in a "local pride" and "festival" mood, not just hunting the lowest price.

Last year, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) ran a National Day edition of its 3 Day Super Sale. It ran for five days over the long weekend, across hundreds of brands and thousands of stores.

National Day is now a full shopping weekend for Dubai residents, not just a holiday.

For the November peaks, see the White Friday guide and 11.11 and 12.12 in the GCC.

Can online stores join the Dubai Shopping Festival?

Yes. DSF started as a mall festival, but today shoppers search for DSF deals on their phones and expect online stores to join in.

There are two ways to take part:

  • Official participation. Retailers that want to run festival promotions, raffles or kiosks apply to DFRE for a certificate of participation through DET (Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism). This puts you in the official programme.
  • Your own DSF campaign. Most online stores simply run a dated "DSF offer" on their site, apps and social channels. Big retailers do the same. This season, one large electronics chain is running its DSF campaign until the end of January.

The second route is the easy one for a new seller. If your licence is in Dubai, you still need the normal DET sale permit.

What sells during National Day and DSF

The two events pull very different baskets, so plan your range for each one.

National Day is about pride and celebration:

  • Flag-colour fashion and accessories. Scarves, kids' outfits, modest abayas with red and green trims.
  • Gifts and hampers. Dates, sweets, oud and bakhoor gift sets.
  • Décor and party supplies. Lights, balloons and table settings for family gatherings.

DSF is a broader shopping festival. Fashion, electronics and luxury goods lead, along with year-end gifts for New Year and travel. Tourists in town for the festival add extra demand.

Rules: sale permits, price display and the flag

Running a sale in Dubai is simple once you know the three rules, and none of them should stop you.

Get a DET permit before you advertise a discount

Discounts and sales need a commercial permit from DET, issued through the Invest in Dubai platform. Apply before any ad or post goes live.

The fees depend on what you run:

  • Promotional campaigns: AED 500–20,000, depending on store area.
  • Sales permits: AED 2,500–13,500, depending on the sale type.
  • Special offers and liquidation sales: a flat AED 2,500.

Online-only stores aren't exempt. DET lists e-stores among the businesses that use the permit, and that covers coupon codes and percentage-off offers on your site.

Agencies that file these permits report approval within about five working days, so apply two weeks ahead. Licensed in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or a free zone? Apply to that authority instead.

Show the real before-and-after price

Dubai's advertising rules ask for clear offer terms. Show the price before and after the discount, the dates, and whether the deal covers all products or only some.

The "was" price must be one you really charged. An "up to 70% off" headline needs real stock at 70% off.

Use the colours, not the flag

The red, green, white and black of the UAE flag are fair game for banners, packaging and outfits.

Running creator posts too? Check the UAE advertiser permit rules first.

Ad costs: plan for the November peak

Paid social gets expensive in this window. In Superads' UAE data, November 2025 had the year's highest Facebook CPM (cost per thousand impressions).

UAE Meta CPM: peak vs low month (USD)
May 2026 (low)
8.92$
12-month average
15.8$
Nov 2025 (peak)
23.52$
Superads, UAE all-industry medians, Jul 2025–Jul 2026

The peak was about 2.6 times the May low. The same budget buys far fewer views when White Friday and National Day overlap.

So what should you do? Build your audiences in October and early November, when ads are cheaper, then spend the peak budget on retargeting people who already know you, plus email and WhatsApp.

For channel benchmarks, see paid ads in the GCC.

Your 2026–27 season timeline

Work forward from today to the end of the festival.

  1. Now – early Nov
    Lock stock and creative

From factory order to sale day, production included, allow 10–12 weeks. LCL alone takes 5–7 weeks from booking to warehouse check-in, so top up from UAE stock or air freight. Brief red, green, white and black creative now.

  2. 6 Nov
    Amazon 11.11 deal deadline

Submit 11.11 deals in Seller Central.

  3. 11 Nov
    11.11

A marketplace deal day. Good for testing offers before the big run.

  4. 19 Nov
    Amazon White Friday deadline

noon shares its Yellow Friday deadlines in Seller Lab.

  5. ≈ 20–30 Nov
    White Friday and Yellow Friday

The biggest sale of the year. Black Friday is 27 November.

  6. Before 30 Nov
    DET permit live

Apply on Invest in Dubai before your National Day ads go out.

  7. 30 Nov – 3 Dec
    Commemoration Day and National Day

Run your short "55" code. Expect slower couriers over the holiday.

  8. 4 Dec
    DSF opens

Switch to your DSF bundle or gift-with-purchase.

  9. 12 Dec
    12.12

A smaller marketplace sale inside DSF.

  10. 17 Jan 2027
    DSF ends

Clear winter stock. Ramadan starts around 8 February, so its campaigns begin straight after.

Plan the rest of your year with the GCC ecommerce calendar.

Worked example: a National Day and DSF promo

Let's plan it for a Dubai-licensed online store selling oud and fragrance gift sets.

An online seller in Dubai packing fragrance gift boxes with red, green and white ribbons for National Day orders
National Day gifting rewards festive packaging, so put the effort into the box.

The plan has three parts:

  • The offer. A gift set normally sells for AED 300. Over the National Day weekend, code UAE55 takes AED 55 off. That's about 18% off.
  • The DSF follow-up. When DSF opens, the code ends. Instead, orders over AED 400 get a free bakhoor burner. It costs the store AED 25, which protects margin better than another price cut.
  • The ad budget. The store plans USD 5,000 (about AED 18,400) for paid social.

That budget buys very different reach depending on the month:

MonthCPMImpressions for USD 5,000
May 2026 (low)USD 8.92about 560,000
November 2025 (peak)USD 23.52about 213,000

The peak buys about 62% fewer impressions. So the store spends USD 2,000 in October, while ads are cheaper, to build a warm audience. The rest goes on retargeting during National Day and DSF.

Last, the store applies for its DET permit two weeks early. Every product page shows the old and new price, and the creative uses the colours without the flag.

Notes for marketplace sellers

  • National Day isn't a big marketplace event. No marketplace deadline appears for it, so use your best price on White Friday and a smaller National Day coupon.
  • Stock check-in comes early. FBA and Fulfilled by noon (FBN) intake usually closes 3–6 weeks before an event. See Amazon FBA in the UAE.

Notes for sellers outside the UAE

  • Saudi-based brands. You already know the playbook from Saudi National Day. Reuse it, but swap green and white for the UAE's four colours. See the Saudi National Day sale guide.
  • Foreign brands without a UAE licence. The easiest way in is Amazon.ae or noon deals. Selling direct from abroad? Keep the same clear terms: real before-and-after prices, dates and covered products.
  • Delivery promises. Couriers slow down over the holiday. Post a clear "order by" date for National Day gifts.

Notes for Chinese sellers

  • 11.11 and 12.12 are your home turf. Gulf shoppers know them well, thanks to Chinese-origin apps and marketplaces.
  • Ship winter stock early. From factory order to sale day, production plus sea freight takes 10–12 weeks, so stock should already be moving.
  • Localise the creative. A generic "Double 12" banner misses the mood. Add UAE colours and Arabic copy for National Day and DSF.

Frequently asked questions

No. Malls and big retailers are the face of it, but shoppers search for DSF deals online too. Big electronics chains run DSF campaigns on their websites and apps. A small online store can ride the same demand with a clearly dated DSF offer.
