Best Arabic Translation Agencies in the UAE

In the UAE you can launch in English, but Arabic reaches Emiratis and Arab expats, and UAE-registered online businesses must give Arabic product information and invoices. Dubai agencies charge about AED 0.25–0.45 a word. Legal documents go to translators on the Ministry of Justice register. Below are 4 independently researched providers serving the UAE.

Key takeaways
  • English-first works in the UAE. Add Arabic for Emirati and Arab expat shoppers, Arabic ads and regulated labels.
  • UAE-registered online businesses must give Arabic product information and Arabic invoices.
  • Dubai agencies charge about AED 0.25–0.45 a word for general content.
  • Legal translation for courts and government filings comes from translators on the Ministry of Justice register.
  • Emirati shoppers search with Gulf words such as هاتف and جوتي, which differ from Saudi wording.

The UAE is the one Gulf market where an English-only store can do well. Most residents are expats, and English is the working language of business.

So why translate? Arabic opens the door to Emiratis and Arab expats, who often prefer to shop in their own language. And if your company is licensed in the UAE, Arabic product information and invoices are a legal requirement.

The good news? A small, focused Arabic layer covers both goals. Provider types, workflows and regional rates live in our guide to Arabic translation agencies in the Middle East.

Do you need Arabic to sell online in the UAE?

Not always to launch, but you'll want it to grow. English covers most UAE shoppers, and Amazon.ae started out English-first.

Here's when Arabic becomes a must:

  • Your company is UAE-registered. Online businesses licensed in the UAE must give Arabic product information, and invoices must be in Arabic, with other languages optional.
  • Your goods need Arabic labels. Many imported consumer products need Arabic on the pack, whatever language your store uses.
  • You target Emiratis and Arab expats. Arabic ads, Arabic Merchant Center listings and an Arabic storefront reach them far better.

A good rule of thumb is about 60% English and 40% Arabic effort. Then adjust using the queries in Search Console.

Our guide to Arabic vs English in the UAE covers the full cost case and the legal detail.

What should a UAE store translate first?

You don't have to translate everything on day one. Start with the pages that either carry legal weight or bring in Arabic-speaking buyers:

  1. Invoices, checkout and store policies. They're short, and UAE-registered businesses need them in Arabic.
  2. Your best-selling product pages. Titles and key bullets first, because that's what shoppers scan on a phone.
  3. Arabic ads and Merchant Center listings. These reach Arabic searchers who never see your English pages.
  4. Labels and inserts. Translate them alongside the listings so the wording matches.
  5. The long tail. Machine translation plus a native edit keeps the rest of the catalogue affordable.

On Shopify, the Arabic Shopify guide covers right-to-left themes and the checkout strings you'll need to translate yourself.

Emirati and Gulf Arabic vs Saudi Arabic

UAE Arabic copy should be clear Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) with Gulf words. Emiratis speak Gulf (Khaleeji) Arabic, the dialect of the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.

Why does it matter? A translator who writes for Saudi shoppers won't always use the words Emiratis type into a search bar. Put these UAE choices in your brief:

  • UAE nouns. هاتف for a phone, where Saudis search جوال, and Latin "iphone" rather than ايفون.
  • Emirati ad voice. شو, not the Saudi وش, in campaign copy aimed at nationals.
  • Western digits everywhere. The ar-AE locale already shows Western digits (123). Check that no app or theme formats prices with ar-SA, which switches to Eastern Arabic digits (١٢٣).

The full Gulf word list and register map are in our guide to Arabic product descriptions.

The UAE's Arabic readers are also very mixed. Egyptians, Levantines, Saudis and Emiratis all shop the same store.

That's why plain MSA works best on product pages here.

Selling in both markets? One MSA base can serve both, with titles and ads adapted per country. The Saudi side is in our guide to Arabic translation agencies in Saudi Arabia.

Legal translation is a licensed profession in the UAE. The Ministry of Justice registers legal translators and publishes the official list on moj.gov.ae.

You'll need a registered legal translator for documents such as:

  • Company files. Memorandums of association, board resolutions and powers of attorney.
  • Court and notary work. Contracts, claims and anything filed with a court or notary public.
  • Some bank and government files. Ask the recipient first, because rules vary by entity.

Here's how it usually goes:

  1. 1

    Ask what the recipient accepts

A bank, free zone or court may want a Ministry of Justice legal translation. Your website and listings don't need one.

  2. 2

    Get foreign originals attested

Documents issued abroad usually need attestation before translation. Your setup agent will confirm the route for your country.

  3. 3

    Pick a registered translator

Check the translator's name on the Ministry of Justice list. Ask for the stamp and signature on every page.

  4. 4

    Check the details

Compare names, licence numbers and figures with the original before you submit.

Setting up a company first? Many setup agents arrange legal translation as part of the package. Compare company formation consultants in the UAE.

What does Arabic translation cost in the UAE?

Dubai agencies charge about AED 0.25–0.45 a word for general content. Many quote in dirhams and invoice from a UAE entity, which keeps accounting simple.

Global agencies and freelancers usually quote in USD, at the rates in our regional price guide. The dirham is pegged at about AED 3.67 to the dollar.

Legal documents are usually priced per page or per document. Expect a premium for rush jobs, and ask about minimum order fees, since bundling small jobs into one order often costs less.

Worked example: adding Arabic to a Dubai Shopify store

Say a Dubai beauty brand has 200 products with about 80 words each. It also needs Arabic policies and an invoice template.

Part of the jobWordsRateCost
Product pages, Dubai agency16,000AED 0.35 a wordAED 5,600
Policies, checkout and invoice template3,000AED 0.35 a wordAED 1,050
Total before VAT19,000AED 6,650

A VAT-registered agency adds 5%, so the invoice comes to AED 6,982.50.

Machine translation plus a native edit at USD 0.06 a word would cut the product pages to USD 960. That's about AED 3,525, a saving of around AED 2,075 before VAT.

The policies and invoice text are worth the full human rate. They're short, and they carry legal weight.

Notes for sellers who also target Saudi Arabia

  • Arabic matters more there. Saudi Arabia is Arabic-first, so plan a bigger Arabic share for Saudi pages.
  • Official documents follow Saudi rules. Saudi filings need a certified Saudi office and an apostille.
  • Adapt the ads. Emirati copy can sound off in Riyadh, so get a Saudi edit for campaigns.
  • One provider can cover both. Tarjama and Ureed both serve the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which keeps one glossary and one translation memory across your stores.

Notes for Chinese sellers

  • English is a fine first step. Add Arabic once you sell to Arab shoppers or list on noon's Arabic site.
  • Translate packaging with the listings. Arabic labels apply to many imported goods.
  • Use one glossary in three languages. Lock Chinese, English and Arabic product terms first. See selling in the UAE from China.

Frequently asked questions

Look the translator or office up on the Ministry of Justice's published list of legal translators. A licensed translator's stamp and signature appear on every page. If an office can't name the registered translator who signs your work, ask before you pay.
