Key takeaways
  • Electronics and fashion are the biggest online categories by revenue, but beauty leads on independent Saudi stores (20.1% of Salla sales).
  • Home and kitchen, health and fitness, and car accessories score highest for new sellers: steady demand, 14% noon commission and light approvals.
  • Fragrance is the top Eid gift, and a SAR 249 gift set on noon can keep about SAR 73 per sale after fees, VAT, stock and ads.
  • Search in Saudi words, not textbook Arabic: جوال for phone, شنطة for bag, مكيف for air conditioner.
  • Plan around four peaks: White Friday, Ramadan, Eid and Saudi National Day.

Saudi shoppers spend big online, and most of what they buy is imported. That leaves room for new brands in almost every category.

The trick is picking a category where demand is deep and the fees still leave you a profit.

The short answer for 2026: beauty, fragrance, home and kitchen, health and fitness, and electronics accessories. Below, each category is scored on demand, competition, noon fees and approvals. You'll also see when each one peaks and what a real product keeps per sale.

What sells best online in Saudi Arabia?

By revenue, electronics and fashion. Together they make up nearly USD 6 billion of online sales:

Saudi B2C ecommerce revenue by category, 2025 (USD billions)
Electronics
$2.98bn
Fashion
$2.76bn
Personal care
$1.18bn
Furniture
$0.68bn
Grocery & food
$0.42bn
ECDB, 2025 (B2C physical goods).

Big categories aren't always the easy ones, though. Phones belong to Jarir, eXtra and Amazon, and cheap fashion belongs to SHEIN and Temu.

Independent stores tell a different story. On Salla, cosmetics and care lead with 20.1% of sales, ahead of health and fitness, home supplies, electronics and fashion. That's where smaller brands win.

Grocery is small, but it's the fastest-growing category. The full market picture is in our Saudi ecommerce statistics.

How to spot demand: four free signals

You don't need paid tools to check a Saudi category. Four signals cover most of it:

  1. Amazon.sa best sellers. Amazon publishes lists for 18 departments. In late October 2026, Beauty, Fashion, Automotive and DIY led the homepage. The top beauty sellers were SAR 10–21 everyday items like body wash and micellar water.
  2. Google Trends in Saudi Arabic. Set the country to Saudi Arabia and use the local word. Saudis search جوال for phone, شنطة beats حقيبة for bag, and مكيف wins for air conditioner.
  3. Salla's category mix. It shows what sells on brand-owned stores, not just marketplaces.
  4. Semrush traffic rankings. Specialists like Nahdi (pharmacy), Arabian Oud (perfume) and Jarir (electronics) reach the top 20 Saudi retail sites only when demand runs deep.

If three of the four look good, the category is worth a test. More on picking the right Arabic word is in our Arabic keyword research guide.

The best categories, scored

Each category gets 1–5 points on four tests, so 20 is a perfect score. Higher "room to compete" means fewer giant rivals.

Don't read a lower score as a no. Beauty and fragrance lose points only on approvals, and that's a one-time step. Once your SFDA notification is done, they're two of the strongest categories in the country.

The categories, one by one

Home, kitchen and décor

Saudi homes are big and families average about five people. Storage, cookware, serving sets, majlis décor and coffee sets sell all year, and home goods get bigger budgets in Ramadan.

The fee is a flat 14% on noon, and most non-electric home products need no special approval.

Health, fitness and sportswear

Health and fitness is Salla's second-biggest category. Resistance bands, yoga mats, home gym kits and modest sportswear are easy entry points.

Supplements are the exception. They need SFDA registration, so start with equipment and apparel.

Car accessories and outdoor

Saudi life runs on cars, and desert camping is a weekend habit. Phone holders, seat organisers, sunshades and camping gear fit here.

Automotive led Amazon.sa's homepage in October 2026, and specialist rivals are thinner than in phones.

Beauty and personal care

Beauty is the top category for independent stores. Women are the core buyers: they buy cosmetics online at nearly twice the rate of men (GASTAT).

Amazon.sa's volume is cheap everyday care, so don't fight there. Win with skincare, haircare and halal or alcohol-free ranges priced above SAR 50, where noon's rate is 12.5%.

Fragrance, oud and bakhoor

Perfume is Saudi Arabia's gifting category, and the premium tier holds most of the market. Local houses are strong, so compete on gift sets, travel sizes, bakhoor burners and home scents.

Perfume counts as dangerous goods for air freight. Ship by sea or hold stock locally.

Toys, kids and pets

More than a fifth of Saudis are under 15, and toys are a top Eid gift. Educational toys and gift sets sell well around holidays.

Pet food is growing about 30% a year from a cat-led base. Treats, litter and accessories are easier to start with than pet food, which needs import approval.

Electronics and gaming accessories

The biggest category, but phones and consoles are a brand game. Cases, chargers, cables, desk setups, controllers and headsets are open.

Price above SAR 50 on mobile accessories, because noon charges 20% below that line.

Modest fashion and grocery

Fashion sells volume, and shoppers plan bigger fashion budgets for Ramadan. Abayas, Eid outfits and occasion wear beat cheap basics, but noon takes 27%.

Grocery, dates and specialty coffee grow fastest, yet suit brands with local stock and SFDA food registration.

When does each category peak?

Saudi demand comes in waves. Time your stock and ads to these dates:

  1. ~20–30 Nov 2026
    White Friday and Yellow Friday

The biggest sale of the year. Electronics accessories, gaming, beauty and fragrance lead.

  2. Late January 2027
    Ramadan launch window

Start offers two to three weeks before Ramadan. Home décor, serving sets, dates and outfits.

  3. ~8 Feb 2027
    Ramadan starts

Night-time shopping peaks. Founding Day (22 February) falls inside it.

  4. ~9 Mar 2027
    Eid al-Fitr

Gifting peaks: fragrance, toys, Eid outfits and gift boxes.

  5. ~16 May 2027
    Eid al-Adha

A second peak for gifts, outfits and home goods.

  6. Late Jul – 22 Aug 2027
    Back to school

Saudi schools return on 22 August. Kids' items, bags and electronics accessories.

  7. ~16–25 Sep 2027
    Saudi National Day (23 September)

Saudi Arabia's own sale season. Green gift sets and tech deals.

Importing your stock? Allow 10–12 weeks from factory order to sale day, production included.

That makes Ramadan 2027 your first realistic sea-freight season. For this White Friday, sell stock already in Saudi Arabia or fly a few hero SKUs.

The full Ramadan plan is in our Ramadan ecommerce guide.

Which products need approval first?

Most categories are open from day one. A few need a certificate, and it's easy to plan if you check while choosing products.

So start with low-approval lines like home, fitness gear and car accessories. Add cosmetics once you have an SFDA representative. The steps are in our SABER certificate guide and SFDA rules for cosmetics and food.

Worked example: what an Eid gift set really makes

Say you sell a fragrance gift set on noon Saudi Arabia: an eau de parfum, bakhoor and a burner in one box. It sells for SAR 249, weighs 0.9 kg, comes in a 30 × 20 × 10 cm box and sits in noon's warehouse (FBN) for two months.

Per saleHow it's worked outSAR

That's about 29% of the price.

Now run a 20% White Friday discount. At SAR 199.20, VAT and commission shrink with the price, but the FBN fee, stock and ad spend don't. The same set keeps about SAR 37.

Now compare fashion. An abaya at the same SAR 249 pays 27% commission, or about SAR 67. That's why fashion needs higher prices or your own store. Full rate cards are on our noon seller fees page.

Notes for marketplace sellers

  • Price above fee lines. Noon's rate drops above SAR 50 on beauty and mobile accessories.
  • Bundle cheap items. A flat FBN fee of SAR 7–10 eats a low price.
  • Pick 14% categories first. Home, toys, sports and car accessories leave more room than fashion.

Notes for own-store brands

  • Beauty, perfume and modest fashion win on Salla and Zid, where your brand story sells.
  • Use Saudi Arabic in titles. Check the word in Google Trends before you name a product.
  • Build seasonal collections for Ramadan, Eid and National Day.

Frequently asked questions

Profit comes from the gap between price and fees, so look at mid-priced gift and home products in 14–15% fee categories. Fragrance gift sets, kitchen and serving sets and fitness kits often keep 25–30% of the price after noon's fees, VAT, stock cost and ads. Fashion sells more units but pays 27% commission on noon.
