Best Shopify Themes for Arabic & RTL Stores (2026)

Since October 2026, Shopify's free Horizon themes display Arabic right to left, so most new stores can start there. If you want a ready-made premium look, pick one of the 24 paid Theme Store themes tagged right-to-left, such as Prestige, Impact or Symmetry. Dawn has no native RTL, so avoid it for Arabic.

Key takeaways
  • Start with a Horizon-family theme. It's free, and since October 2026 Shopify supports it right to left.
  • For a premium design, filter the Theme Store by Right-to-left. It lists 24 paid themes at $150–420, paid once.
  • Dawn doesn't support RTL natively. Move off it rather than patching it for Arabic.
  • Test any theme by publishing Arabic in a preview and tapping through every template on a phone.
  • Most RTL bugs come from apps, sliders and hard-coded left/right CSS, and each has a known fix.

Picking an Arabic Shopify theme got much easier this year. Since October 2026, Shopify's free Horizon themes display Arabic right to left, along with the checkout and customer accounts.

So you no longer need to spend hundreds of dollars just to get RTL, only if you want a particular premium look.

Below you'll find the themes that really support Arabic, free and paid, plus what each route costs over two years. You'll also get a 10-minute test to run before you buy and fixes for the bugs that show up most.

What makes a Shopify theme RTL-ready?

An RTL-ready theme flips its whole layout when the store language is Arabic. Menus, galleries, drawers and arrows all run right to left, without you touching code.

Here's what a good one does:

  • Sets direction in the markup. The theme outputs dir="rtl" on the page when the language is Arabic. That's the correct method, not a CSS hack.
  • Uses logical CSS. Spacing and alignment follow "start" and "end", so one stylesheet works in both directions.
  • Mirrors the right things. Arrows, carousels, filters and the cart drawer flip. Logos, product photos and play buttons stay as they are.
  • Handles Arabic type. It lets you set a separate Arabic font, with no letter-spacing and enough line height.
  • Keeps digits Western. Prices and order numbers use Western digits rather than Arabic-Indic ones.

A theme can check the first two boxes and still fail on the last three, which is why testing matters more than the badge.

For the design rules behind each point, see our RTL design guide.

Four ways to get an RTL theme

You have four routes. The right one depends on your budget, your design ambitions and the theme you already run.

Most new stores should start with Horizon, because it costs nothing, Shopify maintains it and its RTL support is official.

Go paid if you want a specific look, such as an editorial luxury layout or a mega-menu for a big catalogue. Use the RTL app route only as a bridge while you move to a proper theme.

The shortlist: themes known for RTL support

Every theme here has evidence behind its RTL support. That means Shopify's own statement, the Theme Store's right-to-left tag or a developer's published RTL demo.

Free: the Horizon family

Horizon is Shopify's current default theme family, with several style presets. Its October 2026 update named Horizon directly when it added right-to-left support.

What it does well:

  • Official RTL. Shopify builds and updates the RTL support, so it won't break when you update.
  • No extra apps. You don't need an RTL app to flip the layout.
  • Flexible blocks. You can build rich pages without code.

One catch: the Theme Store's RTL filter doesn't tag Horizon yet. Don't let that put you off, just preview it in Arabic before launch.

The Theme Store has a Right-to-left filter. In October 2026 it listed 24 paid themes. You pay for each one once, with prices from $150 to $420.

These are the best-known names on the list:

ThemeKnown forGood fit
PrestigeElegant, editorial layouts with big imageryLuxury, fragrance, jewellery, abayas
ImpactBold, high-energy design and strong promo sectionsElectronics, sports, flash-sale brands
SymmetryClean grids and deep navigation for big cataloguesDepartment-style and multi-category stores
Be YoursMinimal, image-led product pagesFashion and beauty
HyperA built-in RTL option in theme settingsStores that want direct control over RTL
XtraThe lowest price on the list, at $150Budget-conscious first stores

Impulse is worth a look too. It isn't in the filter yet, but its October 2026 release added RTL support across the theme.

The full list also includes Concept, Local, Pipeline, Enterprise, Sleek, Monk, Eurus, Wonder, Metropolitan, Azimuth, Attitude, Voltix, Adam, Vivid, Release, Ignite, Swiss and Maximize.

Every paid theme has a free trial. Use it to run the test further down before you pay.

Outside the Theme Store

Two other groups come up often in Gulf seller forums:

  • ThemeForest themes. Kalles, Ella, Umino and Gecko advertise RTL layouts and Arabic demos. Kalles has built-in RTL, though custom sections may need a review.
  • Arabic-made themes. Arab developers such as Enfitah and Picalica sell themes designed Arabic-first, often for around $45. RTL is the default, not an add-on.

These can be good value, but Shopify doesn't review them. So ask how often they're updated and how support works before you buy.

What each route costs over two years

A one-off theme often works out cheaper than a monthly app. Here's the two-year cost of each route:

479$
Old theme + RTL Master Ultimate ($39.95/mo)
959$
Shopify Theme Store and App Store listings, Oct 2026; app plans × 24 months

The app route is the trap. RTL Master's Basic plan is $5.95 a month, so two years cost about $143.

That's almost the price of a paid RTL theme you'd own outright. The Premium plan, at about $479, already costs more than the priciest one, and Ultimate reaches about $959.

Worked example: a Riyadh fragrance brand

Say you're launching an oud and perfume brand with 120 products. You want a luxury feel, in Arabic and English.

Here are your options:

  • Horizon: $0. Pick the most editorial preset and spend the budget on photography.
  • Prestige: a one-off fee within the $150–420 range. You get a luxury layout out of the box.
  • Your old Dawn store plus an RTL app: $143–959 over two years, and you still patch bugs.

For this brand, Horizon or Prestige both make sense, but the app route doesn't. That money is better spent on a native Arabic copywriter.

How to test an Arabic theme in 10 minutes

Never buy a theme on its demo alone: add your own Arabic content and walk through it.

  1. 1

    Add Arabic and preview

In Settings > Languages, add Arabic but keep it unpublished. Open the theme preview with Arabic selected.

  2. 2

    Check the direction

Confirm the menu opens from the right, text aligns right and the cart drawer slides in from the left.

  3. 3

    Tap through every template

Home, collection, product, cart, search, blog, contact and the 404 page. Use a real phone.

  4. 4

    Test the moving parts

Swipe the product gallery and sliders. Arrows should point the way the content moves.

  5. 5

    Check prices and fonts

Prices show Western digits. Arabic letters join cleanly with no gaps or clipped dots.

  6. 6

    Add your apps

Install your reviews, WhatsApp, upsell and cookie apps, then repeat the checks.

Use this list as you go:

If a theme fails two or more of these, try the next one on your list. Fixing it will cost more than switching.

Common RTL bugs and how to fix them

Even good themes have rough edges. Most bugs fall into a handful of patterns, and each has a known fix:

Keep your Arabic store fast

Speed decides whether a phone shopper stays. Gulf mobile networks are fast, so the usual bottleneck is your own store, with its heavy apps, scripts and fonts.

Aim for Google's Core Web Vitals targets on mobile:

  • LCP (main content loads): 2.5 seconds or less.
  • INP (taps respond): 200 milliseconds or less.
  • CLS (layout doesn't jump): 0.1 or less.

Arabic stores have three extra speed traps:

  • Arabic fonts. Load two or three weights at most, as WOFF2 files, with font-display: swap.
  • RTL apps. An app that flips your layout runs on every page. A theme with native RTL doesn't need one.
  • Widget apps. Every reviews, chat or upsell app adds scripts. Keep only the ones that earn their place.

Check your store with Google PageSpeed Insights before and after each new app, and if a score drops, suspect the newest app first.

Notes for stores on Dawn

  • Dawn has no native RTL. The October 2026 update covered Horizon, not Dawn, and many owners only find out after building their whole site.
  • Moving to Horizon is the cleanest fix. Both are free Shopify themes, so you lose no money.
  • Your translations survive. Product and page translations stay in the store when you switch.
  • Patching Dawn is possible, but costly. It means custom CSS for the layout, icons and sliders, plus re-checks after every update.

Notes for brands moving from Salla or Zid

  • Your Salla or Zid theme doesn't transfer. You'll rebuild the design on a Shopify RTL theme.
  • Match your old look. If your current store is luxury-led, shortlist Prestige or Be Yours; for bold promo stores, try Impact.
  • Check redirects and translations first. Our Salla to Shopify migration guide covers the full move.

Notes for agencies and developers

  • Check the markup. Make sure layout/theme.liquid sets dir="rtl" when the locale is Arabic.
  • Use logical properties. Grep custom sections for margin-left, padding-right and text-align: left.
  • Test checkout extensions separately. Custom checkout UI extensions and app blocks don't mirror automatically.
  • Ask for proof. If you hire help, ask for live Arabic stores they've built. Our Saudi Shopify development team can also help.

A theme is just the start. For translation, checkout and Gulf-friendly copy, follow our guide to building an Arabic Shopify store. For the wider setup, see the Shopify hub.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Shopify's Horizon-family themes are free and display right to left in Arabic since the October 2026 update. The Theme Store's RTL filter doesn't tag them yet, so check by previewing your store in Arabic. Dawn, the older free default, has no native RTL.
