- Shopify Payments isn't available in Saudi Arabia as of October 2026. In the Gulf, only UAE businesses can use it.
- Saudi stores use a local gateway instead, such as Tap, Telr, HyperPay, Amazon Payment Services, Geidea, ClickPay, PayTabs or Checkout.com. Moyasar has no official Shopify app.
- Shopify adds its own fee to every gateway order: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus. Cash on delivery is exempt.
- A UAE company can use Shopify Payments, but it can't offer domestic mada. Saudi mada cards get charged as Visa or Mastercard.
- Tabby and Tamara both have Shopify apps, so Saudi stores can offer split payments without Shopify Payments.
No. Shopify Payments isn't available in Saudi Arabia, as of October 2026.
It works in 41 countries. In the Gulf, the UAE is the only one on the list.
That doesn't stop you selling on Shopify in Saudi Arabia. Plenty of Saudi brands run on it today. They plug in a local payment gateway, which brings mada, Apple Pay and credit cards to checkout.
Here's what Saudi stores use instead, what Shopify's extra fee costs you, and when a UAE company is the better route.
Is Shopify Payments available in Saudi Arabia?
No. Shopify Payments needs your business to be based in a supported country, and Saudi Arabia isn't one. Shopify hasn't announced a launch date.
Saudi merchants keep asking. A Shopify Community thread from September 2026 asked again for a Saudi launch, and there's still no rollout news.
So what changes for you without it?
- You sign your own gateway contract. Shopify doesn't process the payment, a Saudi provider does.
- Shopify charges a third-party fee on every order paid through that gateway.
- Checkout runs in one currency. Without Shopify Payments, buyers pay in your store currency, so set it to SAR.
None of this is a dealbreaker. It's simply the normal setup for Shopify in Saudi Arabia.
What do Saudi Shopify stores use instead?
They use a Saudi payment gateway with a Shopify integration. Most connect through a Shopify App Store app, and a few use a plugin or an offsite payment page.
| How it connects to Shopify | mada | Publishes Saudi rates | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tap Payments | Native Checkout app | ||
| Telr | Shopify's payment provider list | ||
| HyperPay | App Store app | ||
| Amazon Payment Services | App Store app | ||
| Geidea | App Store app | ||
| ClickPay | App Store app | ||
| PayTabs | Plugin from the PayTabs dashboard | ||
| Checkout.com | Offsite integration, larger merchants | ||
| Moyasar | No official Shopify app |
All of these need a Saudi CR (commercial registration, your Saudi business licence) and a Saudi bank account. That's how you get domestic mada. Some also accept a freelance licence, so ask before you apply.
We rank them, with every published rate, in our guide to the best Shopify payment gateways in Saudi Arabia.
Moyasar is a popular Saudi gateway, but it doesn't list Shopify among its integrations. It's a strong choice on Salla, Zid or WooCommerce instead.
How much does Shopify's third-party fee add?
Shopify charges a fee on every order paid through a gateway that isn't Shopify Payments. In Saudi Arabia, that's every online payment. The rate depends on your plan:
| Shopify plan | Third-party fee | On SAR 50,000 of gateway sales |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 2% | SAR 1,000 |
| Grow | 1% | SAR 500 |
| Advanced | 0.6% | SAR 300 |
| Plus | 0.2% | SAR 100 |
Your gateway's own fee comes on top. The good news? Cash on delivery and bank transfers are exempt.
Worked example: a SAR 50,000 month on Basic
Say your store takes SAR 50,000 a month online, across 250 orders. Mada brings in SAR 30,000, and half of that is tapped through Apple Pay. Credit cards bring in the other SAR 20,000.
Your gateway is Amazon Payment Services on its published Standard Plan. Mada costs 1%. Cards cost 2.8% plus SAR 1. Apple Pay is billed at the card rate, even with a mada card inside.
Here's the month:
- Mada typed in at checkout: SAR 150
- Mada inside Apple Pay (75 orders): SAR 495
- Credit cards (100 orders): SAR 660
- APS monthly fee: SAR 200
- VAT on gateway fees (15%): SAR 226
- Shopify's fee (2%): SAR 1,000
That's SAR 2,731 in total, or 5.5% of sales. Shopify's fee is more than a third of it.
On Grow, the Shopify line drops to SAR 500 and the total falls to 4.5%. Whether the higher plan pays off depends on its monthly price, which we cover in Shopify pricing in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Can a UAE company use Shopify Payments to sell into Saudi Arabia?
Yes. A UAE business can activate Shopify Payments and sell to Saudi shoppers. You skip the third-party fee, but you lose domestic mada.
To qualify, you need a UAE Sole Establishment or LLC, mainland or free zone, with a CRN. You'll also need a trade licence, a passport, an Emirates ID or residence visa, and an AED bank account with an IBAN starting "AE".
UAE Shopify Payments takes Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. Card rates start at 2.9% plus AED 1 on Basic.
- No third-party fee from Shopify
- Saudi shoppers can see and pay in SAR through Shopify Markets
- Apple Pay and Google Pay switch on automatically
- One store and one contract for the whole Gulf
- No domestic mada, because SAMA routes stores outside Saudi Arabia through Visa and Mastercard
- Mada cards that aren't enabled for international shopping will decline
- Shopify adds a 2% conversion fee when shoppers pay in SAR
- Card rates are higher than Saudi mada rates of about 1%
Here's the catch. Most Saudi shoppers pay with mada. A store outside the Kingdom can only charge co-badged mada cards as Visa or Mastercard, so some payments will fail.
That's why many Gulf brands run both. A UAE store uses Shopify Payments, and a Saudi store runs on a local gateway with mada.
How do you set up mada and Apple Pay without Shopify Payments?
Through your gateway. Mada and Apple Pay come from the provider you sign with, not from Shopify.
It takes three moves:
- Sign with a gateway. Bring your CR, a Saudi business bank account and an IBAN letter.
- Install its app. Add it under Settings > Payments, then switch on mada in the gateway dashboard.
- Verify your domain for Apple Pay. The gateway handles this. Ask whether Apple Pay shows inside Shopify's checkout or on a redirect page.
Then pay with a real mada card, directly and inside Apple Pay, and refund both orders before you launch ads.

The full walkthrough, with a launch test checklist, is in our guide to mada on Shopify. For wallet setup, see Apple Pay in Saudi Arabia.
Can you offer Tabby and Tamara without Shopify Payments?
Yes. Both BNPL (buy now, pay later) providers have their own Shopify apps and contracts. They work alongside your card gateway.
- Tabby. The Tabby Pay Later app is free to install. On Shopify it supports SAR and AED only.
- Tamara. The Tamara Split Payments app is also free. It covers Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain, and has no test mode, so test with a small live order.
- The fee stack. Shopify's third-party fee applies to BNPL orders too, on top of the BNPL provider's own fee.
Not sure which to add first? Compare them in Tabby vs Tamara.
Notes for larger brands
- Shopify Plus cuts the fee to 0.2%. At high volume, it's the biggest saving on the table.
- Expansion stores fit the two-entity setup. Plus includes extra stores, so a UAE store on Shopify Payments and a Saudi store with mada can share one account.
- Published rate cards have a ceiling. APS moves stores above SAR 300,000 a month to a custom plan, so ask for a quote as you get close.
Notes for sellers based outside the Gulf
- Your home Shopify Payments still works. A US, UK or EU store can sell to Saudi shoppers through its own Shopify Payments account, with no third-party fee.
- Mada will be the weak spot. Like a UAE store, you can only charge co-badged mada cards as Visa or Mastercard, so expect more declines.
- Marketplaces fill the gap. Amazon.sa and noon collect mada for you while you test demand.
- A Saudi entity unlocks everything. Once you have a CR, a local gateway gives you domestic mada at about 1%.
