- We localize existing Shopify stores for Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and the wider GCC, from copy to checkout to search.
- Your best-selling pages get human transcreation. The long tail gets machine translation plus a native edit, so the budget goes where sales are.
- Shopify's checkout has no built-in Arabic, so we translate every checkout string, email and SMS before Arabic goes live.
- Prices, payment labels and address fields are set per market: the riyal sign, KWD decimals, mada, Tabby, Tamara and the National Address.
- Every project ends with a full RTL QA pass on iPhone and Android, with test orders in Arabic.
Gulf shoppers buy in Arabic. A store that speaks their language, shows their currency and takes their favourite payment methods feels local, and local stores win the sale.
Shopify makes this easier than ever. Since October 2026, its checkout and Horizon themes lay out right to left on their own.
The catch? Layout is only the start. The words, prices, payment names and address fields are still yours to set up.
That's what we do. We localize your Shopify store for Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait, then test it on real phones before you publish.
Who is this service for?
It's for brands that already sell on Shopify and want the Arabic side to sell just as well. You keep your store. We make it feel built for the Gulf.
We typically work with:
- International brands entering the Gulf. Your store runs well in English and you want Saudi or Emirati shoppers to feel at home.
- Gulf brands with an English-only store. You launched fast in English and now want the Arabic shoppers you're missing.
- Stores with a half-finished Arabic version. The homepage is Arabic, but checkout, emails or product pages slip back into English.
- Brands adding new markets. You sell in the UAE and want Saudi Arabia or Kuwait set up with the right prices and labels.
You end up with a store that reads naturally in Arabic from the first banner to the last SMS. Your team can keep it that way without us.
Building a new store rather than localizing one? Our Arabic Shopify development service covers the full build.
Why does Arabic localization pay off in the Gulf?
Saudi Arabia is Arabic-first. Saudis make up about 80% of the country's online shoppers, and they expect a store that reads naturally in their language.
Language moves money everywhere, not just here. 76% of shoppers prefer product information in their own language, and 40% won't buy from sites in another one (CSA Research).
Trust is won or lost at checkout. A shopper browses in Arabic, picks a size and taps "buy". If the payment screen then switches to English, that's the moment doubt creeps in.
The upside? It's all fixable. Copy, checkout text, prices and address fields are words and settings, not a rebuild.
That's why the checkout is the first thing we fix and the last thing we test.
What's included in Shopify Arabic localization?
Every project covers eight areas. We scope each one to your catalogue and markets, so you only pay for what you need.
1. Arabic translation that sounds local
Not every page needs the same treatment. We split your content by how much it affects sales:
| Transcreation | Machine translation + edit | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A native writer rewrites the meaning for Gulf shoppers | Auto-translated draft, checked and fixed by a native speaker |
| Best for | Titles, banners, homepage, top products, ads | Long-tail products, specs, size guides, FAQs |
| Dialect | Saudi, Emirati or Gulf tone where it fits | Clear, simple Modern Standard Arabic |
| Gender and phrasing | Written for the audience from scratch | Fixed where the machine got it wrong |
| Cost per word | Higher | Lower |
Transcreation means translating the idea, not the words. "Perfect for summer" means something different in Riyadh in July than in London.
We set up the Arabic in Shopify's free Translate & Adapt app, or in Weglot or LangShop if you already use one. Our guide to building an Arabic Shopify store explains the trade-offs.
2. RTL theme setup
Your theme decides whether the storefront mirrors cleanly. Horizon-family themes support right to left natively since Shopify's 2 October 2026 update. Dawn still doesn't.
So we:
- Check your current theme in an Arabic preview, template by template.
- Recommend the lightest fix: keep it, adjust it or move to an RTL-ready theme.
- Fix the usual bugs: sliders, arrows, hard-coded left and right CSS, and apps pinned to the wrong side.
- Set Arabic fonts that read well on phones, with Western digits for prices.
Choosing between themes? Our Arabic Shopify themes guide compares the RTL-ready options.
3. Arabic checkout and notifications
Shopify doesn't supply Arabic checkout text. Any string you leave empty falls back to English, right at the moment the shopper is about to pay.
We translate every checkout button, field label and error message. Then we move on to customer accounts, order emails, shipping updates and SMS.
The step-by-step version is in our Arabic checkout translation guide.
4. Prices in SAR, AED and KWD
Each Gulf currency has its own rules, so we set them per market in Shopify Markets:
- Saudi riyal. Prices include 15% VAT. We add the new riyal sign to the left of the number, with a fallback font where yours can't draw it yet. Our Saudi riyal symbol guide covers the setup.
- UAE dirham. Prices include 5% VAT, shown as "AED 99" in English.
- Kuwaiti dinar. KWD uses three decimals and Kuwait has no VAT, so prices need their own rounding.
- Local price points. No odd conversions like SAR 74.96. We round to prices that look intentional.
For the display rules, see our SAR and AED pricing guide.
5. Payment labels shoppers recognise
Gulf shoppers scan the checkout for names they know. We make sure they find them:
- mada shown as مدى and easy to spot for Saudi shoppers.
- Apple Pay kept in Latin letters, the way shoppers know it.
- Tabby and Tamara widgets switched to Arabic, since they carry their own text.
- Cash on delivery renamed الدفع عند الاستلام.
- KNET labelled clearly for Kuwaiti shoppers.
Picking between the two BNPL providers? Our Tabby vs Tamara comparison helps.
6. Saudi National Address fields
Since 1 January 2026, Saudi couriers can refuse or return parcels without a valid National Address. Shopify's checkout has no Short Address field, so we relabel the spare address line in Arabic and make it required. The Short Address is an 8-character code like ABCD1234, and a clear field for it saves failed deliveries.
We also set the phone field to the format shoppers use, such as +966 in Saudi Arabia and +971 in the UAE. Our Saudi National Address guide explains the rule.
7. Bilingual SEO and hreflang
Arabic search is its own market, with its own keywords. A well-localized page can rank there on its own.
We set up:
- Arabic URLs in subfolders such as /ar-sa/ and /ar-ae/.
- Hreflang tags (ar-SA, en-SA, ar-AE, x-default) so Google shows each shopper the right version.
- Arabic meta titles, descriptions and alt text for your key pages.
- Arabic keyword checks for your main categories, so titles use the words people search.
The full method is in our bilingual SEO guide.
8. RTL quality assurance
Before Arabic goes live, we walk the whole order journey in Arabic on a real iPhone and Android phone. That includes the Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram in-app browsers.
We place test orders with each payment method you offer. Every bug gets a screenshot, a device and a severity. See the full test list in our RTL QA checklist.

How does a localization project work?
Five steps, from first call to a live Arabic store. How long each takes depends on your catalogue size and how many markets you add.
- 1
Discovery
A call about your store, your markets and your best sellers. We preview your theme in Arabic and list what needs fixing.
- 2
Plan
A written scope covering translation tiers, theme work, checkout, pricing and SEO, with a quote broken down by deliverable. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- 3
Build
We translate, fix the theme, set up checkout, prices, payment labels and address fields, with Arabic kept unpublished. You review on a preview link.
- 4
Launch
We run the full RTL QA pass, place test orders in Arabic, fix the blockers and publish Arabic with you.
- 5
Support
We fix anything that comes up after launch and show your team how to keep new products and campaigns in Arabic.
Arabic stays unpublished until checkout is done. Shoppers never see a store that's half Arabic and half English.
What you get at handover
When Arabic goes live, you'll have:
- A live Arabic store, tested on iPhone and Android with test orders on every payment method.
- A translation glossary of your product terms, sizes and brand words, so future copy stays consistent.
- A QA log of every bug found and fixed, with screenshots.
- A short how-to guide for translating new products and campaigns in Translate & Adapt.
- Next-step ideas for Arabic SEO and conversion, based on what we saw during the project.
Notes for UAE stores
The UAE is English-first, but Arabic still matters. About 80% of Emiratis choose Arabic on self-service screens. UAE-registered online sellers must also give product information in Arabic.
- Keep English as the default for the UAE market, with a full Arabic version one tap away.
- Use Emirati or general Gulf tone in banners and push messages, not Saudi phrasing.
- Show AED prices with 5% VAT included, and a +971 phone field.
- Keep separate ar-AE pages if your delivery times or prices differ from Saudi Arabia, so Google sees them as distinct pages, not duplicates.
Notes for Kuwait stores
Kuwait is a smaller market, but Arabic-first and easy to add once your Saudi setup is done. A few details set it apart:
- Three-decimal prices. KWD prices like 12.500 need their own rounding and currency format.
- No VAT, so there's no "prices include VAT" line for Kuwaiti shoppers.
- KNET first. Kuwait's local debit network is the method shoppers look for, so its label must be clear in Arabic.
Our guide to payment methods in Kuwait covers KNET and the local gateways.
What will you need to provide?
We handle the localization. A few things only you can supply:
- Collaborator access to your Shopify store, so we work on your account and you stay in control.
- Your markets. Which countries you sell in now, and which come next.
- Your best sellers. A list of the products and collections that bring in most of your revenue, so they get full transcreation.
- Brand voice notes. How formal or playful you sound, and any words you never use.
- Existing Arabic, if you have it. Old translations, ad copy or packaging text we can build on.
- App list and payment setup. Which gateways, BNPL providers and apps you use, with access where needed.
- One decision-maker who can approve copy and answer questions quickly.
Want the same store set up for both Saudi Arabia and the UAE? Bring both markets to the discovery call, and we'll plan them together.
Is this service right for you?
Tick the boxes that describe you. If most of them fit, done-for-you localization is likely a good match.
If your catalogue is small and you have a native Arabic speaker on the team, you may be able to do this yourself. Our Arabic Shopify guide walks you through it, and we'll say so honestly on the call.

Frequently asked questions
It depends on your catalogue size, how much copy needs full transcreation and how many markets you sell in. After the discovery call we send a written quote broken down by deliverable. That makes it easy to start with your top products and add the rest later.
